Our SP Power division is primarily focussed on power products where the main component is diesel. It includes the following applications and associated support services;
"Pluton Resources engaged Lee Whitely and Southern Prospects to design and supply a heli-portable plant providing electrical power to its exploration camp on Irvine Island. The environmental award winning camp has a capacity of approximately 30 personnel accommodated in air-conditioned units. The Gensets also supplies power to a full service kitchen, ice machines, walk in refrigerator as well as pumps for water supply.
Irvine Island is located approximately 250km North East of Broome at the very top of WA. Weather is extreme, high temperatures, high humidity and cyclones in the wet season. The ongoing success of this exploration program is heavily dependent on reliable equipment and Southern Prospects' generators are at the top of large list.
The initial contract in 2009 was for one system comprising of two 15kVa Olympian gensets accompanied by a 1000L diesel tank housed in a bunded shed. The unit was prepared for quick, component helicopter transport. With no infrastructure on the Island the generator shed was among the first items to be slung from the barge and within two hours the generators were running and providing power to the kitchen.
The camp was expanded mid 2010 and there was no hesitation in getting Southern Prospects to manufacture another identical unit. Lee and his team worked to a very tight schedule and provided us with excellent service for what was a very small project to them. We look forward to working with Southern Prospects in the future with upcoming developments."
